Non-league crossover schedule idea...

Post  Sean on Mon Mar 17, 2008 12:15 pm

Here is and idea I had the other day about crossover basketball games between the CTL and NEA. This would be a two-year cycle so that everyone would get the equal amount of home and road games. The teams paired up from the same leagues were based on the least distance apart from each other with the exception of Lake Roosevelt and Tonasket. The NEA would also rotate who ever the lone team had to be. The end result would be five (5) non-league crossover games for CTL teams and eight (8) non-league crossover games for NEA teams. The one big negative setback I could see to something like this would be that this would give CTL schools a total of 19 scheduled league and non-league games with one remaining, while the NEA would have 16 scheduled league and non-league games with four remaining. These games could be played as holiday tournaments and/or back-to-back weekend games most likely in December.

That, I am sure, is a huge thought on the minds of athletic directors. So, why not make this a choice up to the coaches and athletic directors. They could always select parts of this idea for their own schedules. I think it this would have to be just an option for schools to select from. Keep in mind that there are schools already doing a lot of traveling between the two leagues.

---Freeman to Lake Roosevelt
---Tonasket at Freeman tourney
---Lakeside to Lake Roosevelt and Chelan. Lake Roosevelt to Lakeside.
---Tonasket and Kettle Falls play each other
---Kettle Falls at Brewster tourney
---Lakeside, Brewster, Cashmere at Yakima tourney
---Cashmere and Cascade traveled to Deer Park and Riverside and vice versa the last two years.

This would be great. especially for the teams like okanogan and omak that seem to play a lot of 2B and 1B non-league games.
