NEA/CTL Football Outlook
Chewelah played and defeated Freeman last night 41-7. This victory placed Chewelah in first place in the NEA league. Freeman, Lakeside, and Kettle Falls are all tied in league 2-2. They will play a tie breaker on Monday at 6 pm in Chewelah to determine NEA 2, 3, and 4.
Information received from CTL says that the CTL drew numbers and Okanagan received fourth place, they will play Chewelah at Moses Lake at seven on Saturday.
Cascade is the number two and will play the NEA three at 4 in Moses Lake.
Omak received number three and will play the NEA 2 at 1 in Moses Lake.
After Monday, I will update this thread about who the NEA 2,3,and 4 are.

Re: NEA/CTL Football Outlook
The Monday night NEA playoff has been changed to Newport, I heard, because Chewelah's field was plowed up so bad last Friday night with the game and the rain. - geno

Re: NEA/CTL Football Outlook
Freeman won the three-way football tie-breaker at Newport last night, so they will be the NEA's number two team. So, the Scotties will play CTL number three Omak.
NEA number three Kettle Falls will play CTL number two Cascade.
Lakeside will play Tonasket.
Newport will play Brewster.

Crossovers
This year is the reason that the crossovers with the CTL/NEA are good for both leagues. The NEA is really down this year in football. Without the crossovers, Chewelah and Freeman would be in the state playoff with 5-4 and 2-6 records. From the sounds of the threads on this and other sites the CTL is pretty strong and deserve to have the chance of your 3 and 4 going on.
It proved out last spring in basketball as well.

Crossover
Micafire, I would agree with you had Chewelah not played four teams from the 2A Division, 2 of them now competing for playoffs spots and Freeman had not played a Washington 2A playoff team, an Idaho playoff bound team, and a Montana bound playoff team.
The 3 and 4 in the CTL played Lake Roosevelt, Brewster, Chelan, and Tonasket...Okanagans toughest game opponent was Cashmere. At least Omak played Royal too.
We will see when it is all done...
GO NEA!!!

Re: NEA/CTL Football Outlook
It is too bad that the CTL did not have a league playoff like the NEA did. Then, we could actually see which of the three teams would have come out second, third, and fourth. Don't forget that Okanogan upset Cascade at the end of the season and is a much-improved team over the course of the season. So, at the end of the season, is Okanogan better than Cascade??? Likewise, I think Kettle Falls is a better football team than Freeman or Lakeside. Chewelah blew out Freeman and Lakeside, but had a little trouble with Kettle Falls in the opening half. What do you think???

It played out as I thought
The NEA showed that they were down this year by evidence of the crossover results. I can only speak for Freeman having watched 4 of their 5 home games. They graduated 20 of the 22 starting positions, as I saw it only one offensive lineman and the tight end returned. They were very young and the senior QB had only JV experence. The whole defense was senior dominated and a couple of juniors from last year did not turn out. From what I saw Chewelah was the class of the league. Kettle, Lakeside and Freeman were all about the same. Kettle lost to Lakeside in OT and Freeman spanked lakeside by 35 yet lost to Kettle by 1, and poor Newport can't get enough players to turn out. I saw the 2A game and the Idaho game and both teams had their JV in before halftime.
Had the CTL not been so concerned about "protecting" their number 1 as they have done the past few years, Then Cashmere would not of overlooked Chelan and be playing to defend their title this weekend.
